Let's face it, wearing a nicely fitted outfit when your endo belly makes you look 3 months preggo, it sucks. So you end up wearing something else to avoid the awkward conversations and when you get to your event you look around at the other ladies who are wearing their cute dresses and secretly wishing you were rocking your little black dress, too!

After that, you get a fire lit under your butt and you go to the gym swearing that you'll drop a few pounds. You begin eating like a rabbit - only having salads, yogurt, and a few of those 100 calorie snack packs. A week or two later you weigh in and the scale is not budging so you say "to hell with it!" and end up going on a bender that leaves you in a food coma.

Frustrating? You bet! I'm here to tell you that it is not your fault.

Having Endometriosis can make life difficult and it sucks even more because there is no cure. One thing I have learned is to control what I can, one of those things being the food I eat. Why? Because your body needs lots of different nutrients to be able to take care of itself and function properly. I do believe that we should eat real foods on a regular basis, while still enjoying your favorite meal or treat, in moderation. If you overload yourself with a bunch of sugary or processed foods all the time, your body is going to cry out for help! This could be in the form of weight gain, low energy, deficiencies, etc. 
​
I also like to focus on respecting and loving myself and my body. How often do you feel like you are not enough or that Endometriosis has stolen your womanly power? It's a crappy feeling to have. You deserve to feel loved and empowered, whether that energy is coming from yourself or others around you.
 
Creating a healthier lifestyle does not have to be boring, it just has to work for you so that way you will want to stick to it! It's not about being a size 0 either. The goal is to take back control of your life and start feeling better. Sure, some days are still bad (really bad!) but I also have a lot of good days that are worth fighting for. What about you?
